Overall, the feedback for the Supporter Survey was positive. We were very pleased that more than a fifth of our supporters chose to give us feedback. It was also encouraging that a third of those that responded are interested in investing in our renewable energy generation schemes, we hope to encourage them to make a pledge on the website.

Some people highlighted issues with the way a few of the questions were interpreted, especially those relating to climate change. We hope to be more rigorous with our wording in future. There was also interest in the details of our schemes and behind the scenes work. We are in the process of updating our website and producing new display posters to take to festivals and events. Hopefully these will provide the information people want, if not, please let us know.

We are successfully appealing both to people that are already leading a low impact lifestyle (19%) and those that are concerned but could do more (80%). Interest was expressed in us developing our activities to cover wider climate change reduction activities. Whilst our main focus has to be getting our first scheme up and running, we will begin to consider initiatives such as:

  • Mapping microgeneration in Sheffield
  • Sheffield Renewables’ community footprinting
  • Case studies of climate change impact reduction activities which we can promote

On the whole people liked our newsletter. There was some controversy about how supporters receive it. A number of people said that they preferred receiving it as an attachment and that it was expensive to print out. As a compromise we will reduce the file size and produce a black and white version that people can print off if they wish. Unfortunately making these changes has delayed our April newsletter. If you are unhappy with the way in which you receive your newsletter, please let us know. We hope to find a method that meets the expectations of the majority of our supporters.

The final change to our newsletter is that we will begin to produce it quarterly. This will enable us to spend more time developing our blog. The blog will be used to provide greater detail of our progress. In this way we hope that those wishing to know more can access the information without others receiving an excessive quantity of emails.

We would like to say a big thank-you to everyone that provided feedback.
